Under the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Program Special Fund 2023 , the energy efficiency awareness seminar in the food processing sector was held in Mingalar Hall, Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI), and Dr. Charlie Than, Union Minister of the Ministry of Industry, delivered a speech virtually. The activiteis and the results of the Project, and the cooperation of energy efficiency were delivered by his speech.

In addition, Deputy Director General, Directorate of Industrial Collaboration, told national energy efficiency policy, strategy, and roadmap in Myanmar. The director also told energy efficiency methods in the food processing sector and cleaner production. The expert told about energy management and energy efficiency technologies in the food processing sector, respectively, and the participants and experts discussed and advised the energy efficiency methods in practical terms.

In the afternoon, a panel discussion with the topic “the outcomes and benefits of implementing energy efficiency” was discussed by the Federation of Myanmar Engineering Society, the representatives from the Myanmar Food Processors and Exporters Association, two business partners from food industries and National expert; totally five participants, and led by the director of the energy efficiency department.

Then, the participants also discussed the topic of “the energy efficiency methods in the food processing sector,” with small group activities and the seminar was successfully concluded.

The seminar was held by a two-way learning method, and the participants got more energy efficiency knowledge.And they discussed the challenges and barriers facing their factories and the experts advised the solutions for the energy efficiency.

Dr. Charlie Than, Union Minister of Ministry of Industry, attended by virtual from office (30), Ministry of Industry, Nay Pyi Taw and Deputy Director General from Directorate of Industrial Collaboration, Deputy Director General Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the responsible persons, the members from Myanmar Engineering Council and Federation of Myanmar Engineering Society, the delegates from food industries, and related ministries.
