The Energy Efficiency Awareness Seminar for Food Processing Sector, supported by the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Program Special Fund (2023), held on August 7, 2024 at the Myanmar Engineering Council Hall in Lanmadaw Township, Yangon Region.
Dr. Charlie Than, Union Minister for Ministry of Industry, delivered the opening speech via virtual system, expressing the development of the Energy Efficiency Pilot Project in Food Processing Sector, the objectives and implementation processes of the project, as well as the benefits of energy efficiency activities implementation.
The Director General for the Directorate of Industrial Collaboration under the Ministry of Industry, presented the action plan and current implementation of the energy efficiency and conservation in Myanmar; the Director presented the achievement results of energy efficiency in the food industry; an national expert presented international good practices on energy efficiency in the food industry; a representative of the Myanmar Food Processors and Exporters Association presented Cooperation regarding Energy Efficiency implementation in Food Processing Sector; the representative of the Ministry of Science and Technology explained the measures for application of renewable energy in this sector, and the representative of the Myanmar Engineering Council discussed the status of cooperation for energy efficiency. The attendees asked questions and experts made suggestions, and discussed ways to use energy efficiency in food processing and the seminar was concluded at 16:30.
The event was attended by the Director General, Deputy Director General and officials of the Directorate of Industrial Collaboration under the Ministry of Industry, members of the Myanmar Engineering Council, representatives from relevant ministries, food processors and representatives from food industry associations and related organizations.
